Angry As Cain

Our society is mad, upset, angry, vexed, in raged, and out of control.  Anger has become another weapon the devil is using especially among our youth and young adults.  I often record the television series “Scared Straight” where most of the young people have one thing in common, anger.  The question is simple, what is behind our anger?  In Genesis 4, Cain got angry and murdered his brother Able.  He was angry because his offering was refused by God and instead of correcting his fault he took it out on Abel.  God even talked to Cain but he would not listen to God.  He was so angry that his countenance changed.  All God wanted to know was why Cain was angry.  How many Cains are reading this blog and fail to acknowledge your guilt but instead take it out on others.  Anger has a way of controlling your mind and actions, and with those come consequences.  We must learn how to turn anger into something positive.

You may be angry as Cain but what is the cause?  Is it because your feelings got hurt, someone betrayed you, you got embarrassed, someone disrespected you, cannot have your way, family problems, you may be angry with God because you can not understand what He’s doing.   Regardless of the reason, your anger is not to be taken out on others.  Anger must be ruled or it will rule you.  Here is what the Bible says about anger:

“Cease from anger and forsake wrath, do not fret it only causes harm.”

“A quick tempered man acts foolish and a man of wicked intentions is hated.”

“He who is slow to wrath has great understanding.”

“He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty.”

“Make no friendship with an angry man and with a furious man do not go.”

“A soft answer turns away wrath but harsh words stir up anger.”

“For the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God”

There is an anger the Bible speaks of called righteous indignation anger, without guilt here the Christian is allowed to be angry but do not sin.

“Be angry and do not sin, do not let the sun go down on your wrath”

God is an Anger Management Counselor! He will get to the source of your anger if you allow Him.
