Let God Work His Plan

posted Apr 10, 2019, 8:57 AM by Beautiful Zion

“A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”  The songwriter said, “Order my steps in your word dear Lord;” if we would do that, this world would be a better place.  “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope."

God has a plan for our life and we don’t always understand or see the big picture.  Often times we ponder why certain things happen in our life, well it’s for a reason.  The reason may be beyond our scope of understanding, but it is a part of God’s master plan.  God allows things to happen in our life, other times He removes people from our life in order to get us to a place in Christ.  Going through trying times are not easy and sometimes slow, but the process will develop a better you.  God told us He had a plan for us, so why not let God work the plan.  God has a plan that far exceeds your daily circumstances. He declares, “What I’m doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.” God wants us to prosper in all things, be in health just as your soul prospers.   Don’t allow the devil to distract you and steer you off course, “eyes have not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.  GOD HAS A PLAN!

Depend on God

posted Oct 31, 2018, 12:26 PM by Beautiful Zion

We often say we depend on God; but when trouble arises we try to lend God a helping hand. God doesn’t need our help; He just needs us to be obedient.  There will come a time in our life when money, who we know, or the influence we think we have will not get us out of our predicament; especially when family and friends turn their backs on you. “Look to the hills from whence cometh your help, all your help comes from the Lord,” we have to depend on God.  Moses had to depend on God from the time he was born, death of male children, the River Nile journey, living in Pharaoh’s House, living on the back side of the mountain, the Exodus, the wilderness experience, and death. Moses’ life was one of dependence after another.  God had given Moses an assignment to deliver the children of Israel from bondage, although he had an excuse God said go.  When God tells us to go, He has already made a way and He will give you the words to speak.  “Now when they bring you to the synagogues and magistrates and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer or what you should say.  For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that hour what you ought to say”.   The key is being obedient to the Spirit and dependence on God.

One Sunday I forgot and left my briefcase at home which contained my Bible and sermon for the day.  There I was sitting in the pastor’s office minutes before preaching time and I asked God what do you want me to preach?  He said depend on me. He directed me to the Book of Exodus and His servant Moses. God told Moses to go, that was my cue to pray and make my way to the sanctuary depending on God.  That Sunday I preached one of the best sermons God has allowed me to preach, because I was totally depending on God.

God, help us to depend on you in every situation of our life.

The Wedding

posted Feb 27, 2018, 10:32 AM by Beautiful Zion   [ updated Feb 27, 2018, 10:32 AM ]

Marriage according to Scripture is the union between a man and a woman sanctified by God.  “Therefore what God has joined together let no man put asunder”.  The idea of marriage was ordained by God in His instructions to Adam. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and they shall become one flesh”.  Weddings are elaborate affairs with all its pageantry, but what if you had a wedding and no one accepts the invitation; no one attended?

In the parable of Matthew 22, Jesus said “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son”. The king sends his servants to deliver the invitations on two separate occasions but they were seized, spitefully treated, and killed.  The king again sends more of his servants out and told them to go into the highways and bring the good and the bad.  The wedding hall was full, and when the king came he observed a man who did not have on the required wedding garments. The king instructed his servants to bind him hand and foot and cast him out into outer darkness, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.  “For many are called but few are chosen”.

Down through the centuries, God has sent His servants out to tell the people that the kingdom of God is at hand.  The servants of the Lord have been mistreated and assassinated because of the Word.  Jesus, John the Baptist, and the apostles were all on a mission for the kingdom and they were not accepted by all.  Nothing much has changed in 2018; people are still rejecting the Word. In the highways, the good and bad are willing to hear what the spirit says to the church, but there are some who sit among Christians who are not Christians. It’s not until the king comes in that he notices somebody (hypocrite) that is not like the rest.  You may be able to fool people with your religious vocabulary and fake praise, but you can’t fool the King; He will single you out.  Let this be a warning to all the pretenders, King Jesus is not to be played with.

There’s going to be a wedding, Jesus the bridegroom will return for His bride the church. This wedding is by invitation only and you must RSVP.  Do you want to be in the number when the saints go marching in; Do you want to be at the great coronation when they crown Him King of kings.  Every day we must ensure that we have on the correct garments and oil in our lamps. Don’t be like the five foolish virgins who had no oil, left to purchase some, and the bridegroom came. When they returned, the door was shut and they missed the wedding.  What a shame to be in church and miss heaven?

It’s time to ask the Lord to help us to stay focused on the kingdom; trials and tribulations may rise but all of my help comes from the Lord.  The Kingdom is our goal! I want to be one of the chosen ones who will hear the Lord say well done my good and faithful servant.

More Than Enough

In this world of plenty, why is it that so many people have so little? Little money, time, food, resources, patience, little faith, little religion, and little Jesus.  We serve a God of multiplication, who wants to see us prosper in every aspect of our life.  Sometimes we end up on the short end of the stick, because we have failed to bring the little we have to Jesus.  Little becomes much when you put it in the hands of an Almighty God.

Jesus fed the multitude on two occasions in the New Testament, five and four thousand men not counting the women and children.  He did it with the bare minimum, a few pieces of bread and a few fish.  The supply outweighed the demand, but this was not an issue for Jesus. Little became much in Jesus hands! Not only did He have enough, but there were left-overs on both occasions.

When we think the little we have is insufficient, inferior, unacceptable, or imperfect, God will shatter the low expectations of not enough in our life and ministry. Never think that what you have is too small for God to use.  God enjoys showing off.  What the world calls insufficient and not good enough, God will use those people and things for His Glory.  Jesus took five loaves of bread and two fish and made fish sandwiches for over five-thousand people, so then I know the little I have can be much.  You are never too young, old, small, disabled, or un-educated that if you bring the little you have to Jesus, He will turn your little into much. It’s time to operate in your faith and believe God for the over flow, the surplus, and watch the little turn too much.

New Year 2017

posted Jan 4, 2017, 11:06 AM by Beautiful Zion

Now that 2016 is in the rear view mirror of life, each passing day gets further in the artifacts of history.  What was done in the past is now history; there is nothing you can change.  With that being said, it is time to move forward with our life; for “this is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it.”  With each day God allows us to live, we should do so with vigor and giving God all the glory, honor and praise that He so rightfully deserves.  The year 2017 should be the year you give your life to Christ. If you don’t have a relationship with Him, if you are in a right relationship, make it your business to improve by being the best person and Christian possible.

Our church theme for this year is “Moving forward in Christ.” How can we do that, according to the Word of God, “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”  Our ultimate goal is eternal life with Jesus; therefore we must continue to pray, fast, study, live an acceptable life style before God, and our fellow man.  Therefore our prayer should be Lord help me to be better than I was on yesterday.  One day at a time is how we must live; tomorrow is not promised to us.  2017 is the year of the church; we will prosper in every aspect of our life as long as GOD is leading.  The Lord is my Shepherd and where He leads me I will follow.

In 2017 we are looking forward to the challenges, and victories in Christ, for we are more than over comers!

Holiday Season Thoughts

posted Nov 4, 2016, 5:42 AM by Beautiful Zion

The holiday season is upon us; it’s not a joyous time for everyone. The season can bring on depression, loneliness, and suicidal thoughts as people begin feeling pressured in trying to make everybody happy, with little or know means of doing so.  Many people will be struggling and straining trying to buy gifts and put a feast on the table fit for a king.  Others are depressed and lonely because they are unable to be with family and friends.  But there is a friend that will stick closer than a brother! God told Moses to tell the people “I AM THAT I AM”! We need to remember that during this season of giving thanks, and as we celebrate the Christ child’s birth.

For the Christian, everyday is a day of thanksgiving. When you look back over your life and see how good God has been to us all, we can’t do anything else but give Him thanks.  He woke you up this morning, started you on your way, put food on your table, clothes on your back, a house to live in, cars to drive, God had you in His plan for today.  You may not have all your wants but He has provided all your needs according to His riches in Glory, and we see no lack.  So be like David and say “O give thanks unto the Lord for He is good for His mercy endureth forever.” No turkey no problem, no collard greens, dressing, cakes and pies no problem; “I been young and now old and I've never seen the righteous forsaken or His seed begging for bread.”

Jesus is the reason for the season, believe it!  It is not about the gifts under the tree, but the gift that hung on the tree. Remember the gift that was born in a manger, laid in a feeding trough.  It’s about the gift of salvation in which one day in the not so distant future, the Gift will appear in the clouds to receive His church.  Don’t stress yourself out with commercialism, and economics of Christmas, these earthly treasures are only for a season. We must continue to lay our treasures in Heaven.  Look to the hills from whence cometh your help, for all your help comes from the Lord.  God will make away out of no way!

Have a Thankful, Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New!

Jesus is the reason to be thankful, merry, and happy

Child Support

posted Jul 12, 2016, 3:35 PM by Beautiful Zion

Child support means parents are actively involved in every aspect of their children’s life from birth to the grave.  Child support does not stop at the age eighteen, for parenting just moved to another level of support.  Today when the words child support is mentioned, the only thing that comes to mind is financial support.  Currently there is over one hundred billion dollars of unpaid child support in America.  I understand it takes money to raise children, but what about their spiritual, physical, and mental well-being? How much have we invested in these areas?

We are losing too many of our children to the streets from a lack of effective parenting.  Our children do not need another mother or father figure in their life, they need their parents.  A figure is a shape or outline that shows up every now and then such as birthdays and holidays providing they remember.  Parents are there during the good and bad times, sickness and health, parents are there to encourage, and discipline. Parents are “to train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart.” Parents are to support their children’s dreams and guide their vision; you have to provide child support.

The X-box, play station, television, and a happy meal are not child support.  When was the last time you attended a parent teacher conference? When was the last time you supported their extracurricular actives? When was the last time you had a conversation with your kids?  Do you know their teachers name? Who is their best friend?  What is their favorite color?  When was the last time you took time to pray with your children?  Does the family attend church together? Let’s talk about child support!

We don’t serve a dead beat God, and we shouldn’t be dead beat parents. So support your children in every aspect of their life, they will thank you later.

There was an estimated 20 billion dollars spent during Valentine’s weekend and still someone was left out.  All of this was in an effort to express how much we loved that very special someone.  “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for a friend.” This is what Jesus did for us, and not one person was forgotten.  First and foremost God is love! “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” It is impossible to know God intimately without loving others, for God is love.  Jesus demonstrates the highest form of love that is agape love which is selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional.  This type of love is not about self gratification; it gives and forgives regardless of what we have done.

Everybody wants to be loved, even the meanest of people.  Many are afraid to love or be loved because of pass experiences.  People do not know how to receive or give love; because their life has been one lustful and judgmental relationship after another.  When someone comes along and treats you with respect, kindness, and shows you genuine love, you automatically begin to think they are trying to take advantage of you.  These who were once bold and beautiful, have become young and restless. While searching for tomorrow the days of their lives passes them by, as they begin looking for love in all the wrong places, and trying to fill a void that only Jesus can fill.

Jesus loves you this I know for the Bible tells me so.  God is love and love does not define Him, but He defines love.  “There is no fear in love, love suffers long, does not envy, parade itself, or puffed up, love does not behave rudely, seeks its own, not provoked, thinks no evil, love bears all, believes, hopes and endures all things, love never fails or vanishes away. Faith, hope, and love abide, but the greatest is love”.

                                                  Who loves you?

We have come to the close of another year; we have had some good days, some bad days, and God remains good.  Take a look back over this year and see where God has brought you from.  He blessed your going out and coming in, He blessed you in the city and field, He provided all your needs according to His riches in glory, and He has even given you the desires of your heart.  Some have had loved ones pass from labor to reward; there is no sorrow that heaven cannot bear; others celebrated the birth of children, God is the giver of life.  Sickness has racked the body of some, yet by His stripes we are healed.  Others have been financially blessed with new jobs, homes, cars, spouses, new outlook on life, and some have a new life in Christ.  Whatever 2015 brought your way, did you take time to say thank you?  Did you give a testimony letting others know that you serve THE GOD who is able to keep you from stumbling and present you faultless?

While the blood is still running warm in your veins, breathe in your lungs, and if it is the will of the Lord to bless you to see another year, do not live it without Christ.  Without Christ in our lives, it is living on borrowed time or playing Russian roulette with your life.  Tomorrow is not promise to us.  We only have this moment, so make the best of the time you have because you cannot get it back.  God loves you and wants to fellowship with you.  He wants to be Lord of your life.  Take some time and introduce yourself to Jesus.  2015 is over, you cannot change history, and neither should it be repeated.   Your future looks brighter in Christ!

Thank you God for allowing us to see another year!

Believing the Invisible

posted Oct 9, 2015, 6:12 AM by Beautiful Zion

If you could be invisible for 24 hours what type of impact would you have on society?  Invisible is defined as incapable of being seen, or inaccessible to view.  There are many things that are invisible but are required in life; oxygen, gravity, and God. Because you cannot physically see them does not mean they do not exist.  Jesus said, “Thomas because you have seen me you have believed, blessed are those who have not seen and yet believed”. Do you believe what you cannot see?

I have heard people say I believe it when I see it.  One person you need to believe before you see him is Jesus, because when you see him it will be too late.  In Colossians 1:15-16, Paul writes to the church concerning the preeminence of Christ.  He educates us that Christ is the image of the invisible God. In essence, God is invisible, but Jesus has revealed Him to us.  Jesus said, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father, do you believe that I am in the Father and the Father in Me or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves.”  When we look all around we can see God in His most prized creation of man, in nature, the atmosphere, and the knowledge he has given man to create all the wonders of this world.  This world reveals the existence, power, and wisdom of God; but nature cannot reveal His essences.

Do you believe what you cannot see? “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.” Faith does not require you to see but believe.  Did you witness the crucifixion or the resurrection of Jesus? Yet you believe!  One day every eye will see Him and everybody will have their chance to stand before God and see Him face to face.  Prepare now!
